1. Purpose and publisher
The Paris & Me mobile app and this website are published by Armand Farra, hereafter “the publisher”. The publisher can be reached at support@parisandme.app.
These terms set out how the app and the website may be accessed and used. They form a contract between the publisher and anyone who creates an account, hereafter “the user”.
2. Acceptance of these terms
Creating an account requires express acceptance of these terms and of the privacy policy. Acceptance is collected through a separate tick box during sign-up; registration cannot proceed until it is ticked.
The date and time of that acceptance are retained for the sole purpose of being able to prove that it took place.
3. Account and access to the service
Access to the app’s features requires an account, created with a valid email address and a password. The address must be verified: a confirmation link is sent to you, and the account only becomes usable once that link has been followed.
The user undertakes to provide an accurate email address that belongs to them, and to keep their password confidential. Any activity carried out from an account is deemed to be that of its holder.
The service is intended for people aged fifteen or over. Below that age, registration requires the agreement of a parent or legal guardian.
4. Free of charge
The service is entirely free. It contains no in-app purchases, no subscription, no paid options, no advertising and no sponsored content. No payment details are requested or collected.
The publisher does not rule out changing this model in the future, but no feature that is already available will become chargeable without users being informed beforehand within the app.
5. Editorial content and accuracy
The content provided (the history of monuments, opening hours, prices, addresses, practical advice) is indicative. It is checked at the time of writing, but a city changes: hours are altered, prices rise, venues close.
Before travelling, booking or buying a ticket, users are advised to check the information with the official source for the place concerned.
Restaurant reviews are personal, subjective opinions. They involve no payment, no consideration of any kind and no approval by the venues concerned.
6. Safety advice
The app offers advice on staying alert, in particular about common scams and precautions to take at night. This is general guidance, framed by situation rather than by neighbourhood.
It constitutes neither a guarantee of safety nor an assessment of the actual risk at a given place and time. In an emergency, call 112.
7. Location and mapping
Location is an optional feature, switched on at the user’s request in order to sort places by distance. The position is used on the device and is not sent to any server operated by the publisher. Refusing the permission does not prevent use of the rest of the app.
Map tiles are supplied by third-party services, whose accuracy is outside the publisher’s control.
8. Intellectual property
The texts, selections, rankings, translations and layout of the app and website are protected by copyright and remain the property of the publisher. Any reproduction or reuse, even partial, beyond private use requires the publisher’s prior written agreement.
Photographs remain the property of their authors or rights holders and are used in accordance with the applicable licences. Names and trade marks mentioned belong to their respective owners; mentioning them implies no partnership.
9. User obligations
Users undertake to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes, and in particular must not:
- extract or reuse the content on a large scale, by any automated means;
- attempt to access another user’s data, or circumvent authentication mechanisms;
- disrupt the operation of the service or probe its security without prior written authorisation;
- use the service for unlawful purposes.
10. Availability and changes to the service
The service is provided as is and as available. It may be interrupted, temporarily or lastingly, for maintenance, because of a failure, a network issue, or the action of a technical provider.
The publisher may change, modify or withdraw features. The publisher may also stop operating the service; in that case, users holding an account would be informed by email with reasonable notice to export their data.
11. Liability
The publisher cannot be held liable for the consequences of information that has become inaccurate, of a journey made on the strength of content in the app, of the service being unavailable, nor for third-party content and services the app links to.
Nothing in these terms limits the publisher’s liability in cases of gross negligence, wilful misconduct or personal injury, in accordance with applicable law.
12. Deleting your account
Users may delete their account at any time from within the app, on the “My account” screen, without giving a reason and without going through customer support.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. There is no grace period, no cooling-off window and no way to restore the account: the account, its email address and the associated data are erased at the moment you confirm. An export of your data is offered just beforehand, precisely because the operation cannot be undone.
The publisher may, for its part, suspend or delete an account in the event of a serious breach of these terms, after informing the user except where the seriousness of the facts or the law makes that impossible.
13. Personal data
The processing of personal data is described in the privacy policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.
14. Changes to these terms
These terms may be amended. The version in force is the one published on this page, together with its update date.
In the event of a substantial change, users holding an account are informed within the app and invited to accept the new version. Declining leaves the option of deleting the account, with no other consequence.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law.
In the event of a difficulty, users are invited to contact the publisher at support@parisandme.app in order to seek an amicable solution. Failing agreement, the dispute falls to the courts having jurisdiction under ordinary rules; a consumer retains the right to bring proceedings before the court of their place of residence.
Complaints relating to data protection may also be addressed to the competent supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
16. Contact
